Sydney is celebrating a sugar rush of new chocolate-themed food destinations. There are plenty of ways to satisfy a chocolate craving at glamorous chocolate salons, handkerchief-sized shops, in restaurants or on a tour.

 

Make a meal of it

  • Guylian Belgian Chocolate cafes, at Circular Quay, offer sparkling wine with their famous seashells, chocolate shakes and a string of chocolate-inspired desserts with side orders such as brownies.
  • Haigh’s Chocolates in the Strand Arcade is famous for moulded chocolates that include frogs, bilbies, hearts, Murray cod and freckles. Buy a chocolate fondue set and download Haigh’s recipes.
  • Lindt cafes at Martin Place, George Street and Cockle Bay have every type of dreamy chocolate indulgence – cakes, desserts, drinks and…chocolates.
  • Adriano Zumbo’s patisserie in Balmain is famous for his inventive sweet creations, gourmet chocolates and French-style hot chocolates – also in Balmain at Café Chocolat.
  • Boon Chocolates in Victoria Street, Darlinghurst has artisan chocolates downstairs and an upstairs tearoom.
  • Colefax Chocolates in Haberfield are freshly made each day from Belgian’s best, using moulds from Belgium. Check out the chilli truffles and single-origin chocolate.

  • Pocket-sized Just William has beautifully elegant chocolate delights in fashionable William St, Paddington.
  • Belle Fleur in Rozelle and Petersham are known for their chocolate sculptures, exquisite handmade chocolates made fresh daily – with “use by” dates.

Don’t miss chocolate inspired-deserts at

  • Neil Perry’s gastronomic delight may be a modern Chinese restaurant but try the peanut, chocolate and caramel parfait at Spice Temple.
  • Divine chocolate, raspberry and beetroot jellies, jams, ice creams and sponge at Pier Rose Bay.
  • Marshmallow lychee, citrus and white chocolate at Marque in Surry Hills.
  • Churros (Spanish donuts) with chocolate mousse at Catalonia, Kirribilli.
